MARIKA IN COSTA RICA, was founded by Marika Somerstein and Neal Dingott.
Marika’s family started Somerstein Caterers in 1930 and expanded to become the largest caterer in the New York Metropolitan area.
Grandfather Joseph Somerstein started catering during the depression when no one knew what catering was. He was very successful and when his son Irving and wife Anita joined the firm, they were #1 for the next eight decades. Stuart, his grandson, joined the firm after attending Hotel and Restaurant School, and when he married Marika in 1975, she brought her own ideas with her from Europe to the company. Together they enjoyed a great reputation during the ensuing decades. Just ask anyone in New York! The sky was the limit. They combined their ingenious ideas and creativity with the best food in the city to make every event one to remember. How can you go wrong?
